SIBERIAN RESCUE

Lets face it...Siberian Husky puppies are adorable. The breed is quite popular in the puppy stage, making them attractive to puppy-millers and back yard breeders who are out to make a quick buck and don't really care whether the puppy goes to a good home. Siberians can be a handful. Often, people learn this the hard way, and give up on the adorable puppy once it hits adolescence.

If you're thinking of getting a Siberian, PLEASE make sure you understand the breed first. While they are wonderful companions, they're not for everyone or every lifestyle. An excellent short article on the breed is on the SHCA web site and the book Siberian Huskies for Dummies is an excellent long-form discussion of the breed, warts and all.

While puppies are adorable, Siberians are very adaptable, and often an older dog would be a better choice for many people. Fortunately and unfortunately, there's always an abundant supply of Siberians looking for good homes. The Siberian Husky Health Foundation would like you to consider adopting a rescue Siberian from an organization near you. To find links to local Siberian rescues and listings of the dogs available, please visit the official Siberian Husky Rescue web site.

And remember...potato chip syndrome is real! Nobody can have just one...Siberian!
