- The Siberian Husky
Club of America is the Parent Club of this breed,
and there is good information on their web site about
the breed history, known genetic problems, a listing of
animals with current eye clearances, and a directory of
members around the country. Visit
the SHCA web site
- The Orthopedic Foundation for
Animals is a registry of animals that have been
screened for genetic diseases. The database is searchable,
allowing you to see if the ancestors of the dog you own
were tested and found to be free of hip dysplasia or thyroid
disease. On the site are good discussions of some of the
known hereditary problems and how they might affect your
dog. Visit
the OFA web site
- The American Kennel Club Canine
Health Foundation is a "big sister" to
the Siberian Husky Health Foundation. The mission of the
AKCCHF is to find good research and fund good research.
The SHHF will rely heavily on the AKCCHF in order to partner
our donations with other dog organizations looking for
answers to the same genetic problems. In that way, we
benefit the researchers by supplying more funding, and
we make our donations go farther. Visit
the AKCCHF web site
- The Canine Health Information
Center is a cooperative effort between AKCCHF and
OFA, providing a one-stop database of animals which have
passed the recommended screening tests for their breed.
The AKC, in an effort to help the public differentiate
between breeders who are truly concerned about the health
of their breed from those who just breed to sell puppies,
offers a special registration form for dogs in the CHIC
registry. Find
