| Because research into the
genetic and health problems that affect Siberian Huskies,
as well as other breeds, is of vital importance, this Foundation
was formed in order to provide continuity of funding for
that research.
From the outset, the Foundation realized that it would
be critical for the success of fund-raising efforts that
donations be tax-deductible to the extent provided by law.
The IRS granted the Foundation a 501(c)(3) designation,
which is given to not-for-profit charitable organizations.
The Siberian Husky Health Foundation will use donations
to fund important research, as well as to conduct periodic
health surveys to uncover emerging problems in the breed.
We're working closely with the Canine Health Foundation
to find and fund research into the health and genetic problems
commonly found in Siberians, including but not limited to
hereditary eye disease, hip dysplasia, epilepsy, and retained
testicles.
